Acupuncture Practice Questions & Study Method

Build a foundation for acupuncture exam study by explaining your answers, identifying recurring gaps, and practising across topics.

Choose acupuncture mode

In this app, acupuncture mode excludes Herbal Dispensary Management questions. Select it on the free sample screen to practise with the matching question pool. The number of questions is lower than the complete 60-question sample because of that filter.

Check CARB-TCMPA’s examination information and current Candidate Handbook for official requirements, scope, and procedures. Use your provincial regulator for application and eligibility information.

Review beyond point names

Organize your course review into foundations, biomedical knowledge, diagnostic reasoning, acupuncture techniques, safety, and professional practice. Point recall is one part of preparation. For each topic, identify whether you need to recall a definition, distinguish similar concepts, or explain a decision from the information provided.

Build comparison notes for concepts you confuse. Give each concept a one-sentence definition and an example of what would distinguish it from its nearest alternative. This is more informative than copying a long explanation after every incorrect answer.

Practice questions with answers and explanations

Start with these original foundation exercises, then use the interactive sample for broader practice. These introductory examples are separate from the 60-question sample and are not official exam questions.

1. Which group contains the five phases used in traditional Chinese medicine?

  1. Wood, fire, earth, metal, water
  2. Wind, cold, heat, dampness, dryness
  3. Heart, liver, spleen, lung, brain

Answer: A. Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water form the five-phase framework. The other options mix different categories. First identify which classification a question asks about before comparing the answers.

Terminology reference: WHO international standard terminology, five phases (1.1.21–1.1.27).

2. Within traditional five-phase correspondences, which phase is associated with the liver?

  1. Metal
  2. Wood
  3. Water

Answer: B. The liver corresponds to wood in this traditional framework. Metal is associated with the lung, and water with the kidney. These are TCM theoretical correspondences, not descriptions of biomedical organ function.

Terminology reference: WHO international standard terminology, five phases (1.1.21–1.1.27).

How to review a multiple-choice answer

  1. Read the question once for its subject, then again for the exact distinction it asks you to make.
  2. Choose an answer before opening the explanation. Record whether you were confident or guessing.
  3. Explain the closest distractor. If two choices seem interchangeable, identify the missing concept in your notes.
  4. Return to the question later without looking at the answer, then apply the same idea to a different example.

For procedural topics, connect quiz review to your approved training materials and supervised instruction. Written practice alone cannot demonstrate a practical skill.
